Alexander (Sandy) Gourlay first studied Blake with Gulley Jimson, and later with John E. Grant, a very different but no less inspired visionary guide. He is especially interested in Blake’s reactions to other writers and visual artists and in the technical processes by which Blake wrote, drew, engraved, etched, and painted. He has served as review editor for Blake since 2006, and greatly appreciates the generosity and patience of the contributors of reviews and of the other editors of the journal.
